SSC JE Pay Scale

After the 7th pay commission implementation, the employees have been enjoying a major hike in the gross salary of the SSC JE in several departments. SSC JE Benefits and Allowances

Besides the essential pay, a Junior Engineer within the Railways is entitled to various allowances and perks that add to their salary giving a hike in their respective salaries.

1. HRA i.e. House Rent Allowance- HRA depends on the city/town the employee resides in. It’s generally higher in X and Y cities than Z cities. The Rate of the HRA varies from Rs 5,400, Rs 3,600 and Rs 1,800 in X, Y and Z cities respectively.
2. Categories of Cities/Towns Rate of House Rent Allowances- Every month along with the basic pay a house rent allowance is also given.
   1. X cities- 24%
   2. Y cities- 16%
   3. Z cities- 8%
3. Dearness Allowance- The Dearness Allowance may be a cost of living adjustment allowance and is currently 28% of the basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission. When the dearness allowance (DA) crosses 25%, the rates of the HRA are going to be revised to 27%, 18% and 9% for X, Y and Z cities and furthermore revised to 30%, 20% and 10% when the DA crosses 50%.
4. Travel Allowance- The travel allowance for travelling depends on the distance the employee travels every day from home to the workplace. The allowance shall increase if the employee is required to do more fieldwork.
5. Medical Allowance- To make sure that the railway employees can provide for their day to day medical expenses they are given a fixed medical allowance. The Government shall bear the medical expenses for them also in case of a severe medical emergency.
6. Other Special Allowances- Other allowances in JE through SSC is additionally eligible for other special allowances like for recreational activities, leaves etc.

SSC JE Job Profile and Growth Opportunity

• Supervising the work: The SSC junior engineers have to supervise all the site visiting works. More specifically, the junior engineers have to look after the government projects and should assure that all the work is done perfectly.
• Planning & execution: All the Governmental project related planning is done and implemented by the Junior Engineer. For instance, any decision related to repairment or renovation is made by the Junior Engineers. In addition, they also need to implement the design after using CAD software or modeling software.
• Assisting his/her superiors: A junior engineer also assists to the superiors and assures that the work is done in a systematic manner.
• Handles all the accounts: The Junior Engineer is liable to look after the money matters related work, which is done by the contractors/ vendors/ workers. Hence, the junior engineers have to ensure that the work is done within the pre-decided budget by the Government.
• Analyze the data: The Junior Engineers also analyze and interpret the scientific data.
• Write reports: The Junior Engineers have to prepare reports and submit them to the superiors. The report contains a wide range of details on the performance of the equipment and apparatus.
