Application Process

SSC CHSL Application Form 2023

There are four steps that the candidates have to complete for the successful submission of the SSC CHSL application forms. The details of the required procedure is given below.

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Go to the official website of SSC at ss.nic.in.
  • On the homepage, locate the ‘Apply’ tab and click on it.
  • After choosing SSC CHSL, a new window will appear.
  • Fill in personal details and contact information asked there.
  • An OTP will be sent to your mobile number and email ID, enter that to confirm both.
  • The registration number and password will be sent to your registered number and email, note that for future references.

Step 2: Uploading Photo and Signature

In order to successfully apply for the CHSL exam, the candidates need to upload their photo and signature according to the specifications for uploading documents. The table below contains the details of the same.

Step 3: Filling Application Form

  • Once the documents are uploaded, you need to fill out the application form.
  • Fill in your details based on the documents and certificates.
  • Choose the preferred CHSL exam centre and mention the medium of your writing.
  • Once the form is filled, check the ‘I agree’ box.

Step 4: Pay Application Fee

SSC CHSL application fee can be paid both online and offline. The candidates paying online can use BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card to pay the fees. For offline payment, the candidates must download the offline SBI Challan to pay at any SBI branch.

Eligibility Criteria

There are multiple factors in the SSC CHSL eligibility criteria like age, educational qualification, physical, nationality, etc. The candidates must check the detailed SSC CHSL eligibility criteria to know about reservations and relaxations. The basic eligibility requirements are as follows.

  • The candidates must be a citizen of India.
  • They must have passed at least 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board or university. However, there are some posts that require specific educational qualifications to be eligible.
  • The candidates must be between the age of 18 and 27 years to be eligible for the exam.
  • The reserved category candidates get some upper age relaxations.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

  • The SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam is a pen and paper based descriptive type of exam.
  • It must be written in either Hindi or English. Usage of both the languages in the paper will result in no marks.
  • In this paper of an hour, the candidates’ language proficiency will be tested through essay, letter, application, precis, etc.

SSC CHSL Tier 3 Exam

  • Tier 3 is a typing test conducted in the cities where the regional offices of SSC are situated.
  • It is qualifying in nature thus the marks obtained in it won’t affect the merit list. It is imperative to clear this round.
  • The candidates must be able to make 8000 correct key depressions per hour.
  • The test will be conducted for 15 minutes where the candidates will have to type a passage of 2000-2200 key depressions.
  • The requirements for the Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ post in C&AG differ from the one mentioned above and the candidates applying for the post must check the detailed eligibility criteria.

SSC CHSL Notification: Instructions to Candidates

Following are the SSC CHSL instructions mentioned in the official recruitment notification.

  • The candidates must check all the information given in the notification thoroughly before they apply for the exam.
  • They must fill the application forms soon after its availability and not wait for the last date to avoid any connectivity or login issues to the heavy load on the website.
  • The detailed scrutiny of eligibility mentioned in the applications is not undertaken. Thus, the candidates must make sure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria and mention correct details in the application form.
  • Candidates, if found unable to produce the supporting documents for the claims made in application forms, will be disqualified immediately.
  • Candidates seeking reservation benefits must make sure that they are entitled to the eligibility and must possess the supporting certificate.
  • The PwD reservations will be given to only candidates with benchmark physical disability.
  • The candidates must print out the submitted application form for their own records, in case it is required for future reference.
  • The candidates are allowed to submit only one application form. If a candidate submits more than one application, all his/her applications will be rejected.
  • If a candidate submits multiple applications and appears for any stage of exam more than once, his/her candidature will be cancelled immediately and he/she will be debarred from all of the Commission’s exams.
  • The candidates must carry 2 passport size photos and one original photo ID proof to the exam centre along with their SSC CHSL admit card or they will not be allowed for the exam.
  • The candidates must enter the details as per the certificates and documents and check the spelling to ensure they match. If any of the details like the candidates’ name, date of birth, parents’ name etc. does not match the one given in matriculation certificate, his/her candidature will be cancelled during the Document Verification round.
  • The applications with photographs and signatures blurred or illegible, or which do not meet the specifications will be rejected.
  • No request for change or correction in application form will be entertained under any circumstances.
  • The email IDs and mobile numbers entered during registration must be active and available at all times as correspondence through the same may be made.
  • In case of using any fake or fabricated application or registration, legal action will be taken against the responsible candidate/ cyber cafe.
  • The posting of candidates, upon selection, can be anywhere in the country as all the posts carry AISL (All India Service Liability).
  • If any candidate, who has scored more than the CHSL cutoff marks, is not qualified for the next stage of exam, he/she must contact the Regional Office of the Commission within two month of the result or two weeks before the conduction of next stage of exam, whichever is earlier.
  • If a finally selected candidate does not receive any correspondence from the Commission or the concerned User Department within a year of result declaration, he should contact the concerned User Department immediately.
  • The photograph uploaded in the application form must have the date clearly printed on it. The date must be on which the photograph was taken and it must not be more than three months old.
