SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2023 (Revised)

The latest SSC CHSL selection process comprises of three stages i.e. Tier I, Tier II and Skill test. Based on the obtained marks in SSC CHSL Tier I i.e. Computer Based Exam, candidates will be shortlisted category-wise, to appear in the SSC CHSL Tier II exam. On the other hand, SSC CHSL Tier II comprises 2 tests which are CBT and Skill Test. SSC CHSL Tier II will include three sections having two modules each.

Earlier, SSC CHSL Exam used to be held in 3 stages - Tier I, Tier II and Tier III. The SSC CHSL Tier I was for Computer-Based Tests, Tier II was for Descriptive Paper and Tier III included Skill Test for each post.


SSC CHSL Tier I Exam Pattern 2023

SSC CHSL Tier I is objective in nature (MCQ) in online mode. The duration of the exam is 60 Minutes. The SSC CHSL Tier I question paper will be set in both English and Hindi for every section except the English Language section. The question paper will comprise 4 sections.

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Skill Test

The SSC CHSL Skill Test 2023 details have been highlighted in the following:

  • Data Entry Operators must qualify the skill test. The SSC CHSL Skill Test is mandatory for all candidates.
  • SSC CHSL Data Entry Speed should be (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per Hour on the Computer. This will be assessed based on proper word/key depression entry as per the provided passage.
  • The duration of the SSC CHSL Skill Test is 15 minutes.
  • Each applicant will be given printed material in English including around 2000-2200 key depressions to type into the computer.
  • The computer screen may also display the passage to be typed into the computer.

SSC CHSL Skill Test for DEO of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India

  • The Data Entry Speed should be 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per Hour on the Computer.
  • This will be assessed based on the correct entering of words/key depressions as per the provided passage.
  • The duration of the test is 15 minutes.
  • Each applicant will be given printed material in English including around 3700-4000 key depressions to type into the computer. The computer screen may also display the passage to be typed into the computer.
  • Candidates with benchmark disabilities will be allowed 5 minutes of additional time. As a result, the duration of the Skill Test for such applicants will be 20 minutes.

SSC CHSL Typing Test for LDC, JSA, PA and SA

The SSC CHSL Typing Test will be conducted in either Hindi or English. Candidates must select the medium of the Typing Test (Hindi or English) on the SSC CHSL online Application Form. No further changes regarding the medium will be allowed. Here are key facts related to the SSC CHSL Typing Test for LDC, JSA, PA and SA

  • In the Case of choosing English, candidates should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.).
  • In the case of choice of Hindi, candidates should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m). (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. amount to approximately 10500 and 9000 key depressions per hour, respectively.
  • The speed will be determined by the precision with which a particular text passage is typed on a computer in 10 minutes.
  • Candidates with benchmark disabilities will be allowed 5 minutes of compensatory time. As a result, the Typing Test will last 15 minutes for such candidates.
  • Visually Handicapped applicants will be given passage dictators who have selected writers in the online Application Form for the Typing exam. The Text Dictator will read the passage to the VH candidate within the time limit.
